About

PG Dip, Psychodynamic Counselling & Human Relations (COSCA accredited) . MSc, Art Psychotherapy. BA, Hons, Fine Art. Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

My approach is kind, non-judgmental and dynamic. I am trained in psychodynamic counselling, which specialises in understanding how we humans get along with each other, and how we can be affected by our past. I’m also trained in working with trauma. Including understanding how the body responds emotionally and physically to stress.

It is my role to support you towards a better understanding of your feelings, emotions and life situations.

I will be very supportive in helping you talk about your life. Relationships, culture, gender and sexuality lie at the core of who we are. However, it is often just those very aspects of our lives and culture that cause us difficulties.

Successful therapy can help you become more self-aware and gain a better understanding of yourself. As a result, you may find ways of doing things differently.

Our therapy sessions

To begin with, we meet for an initial session. This is a chance for you to talk more about what is going on for you and talk a bit about your life.  It is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work. At the end of the session, we will talk about where to take things from there.

Approach

Psychotherapy is primarily a talking therapy which aims to help you toward a better understanding of yourself and find a healthier way to be. My approach to therapy is called psychodynamic. This understands how we are effected from the beginnings of life, right through to the present day.

Therapy does not always need to be about problems… It can also offer you an opportunity to explore and understand yourself better.

I am also an artist with a professional studio practice. Creativity is of great importance for me for a balanced life. I am influenced by nature and connections with the landscape, using these connections to make jewellery and visual art that communicates layers of experience that cannot always be simply spoken. Why Psychotherapy?

There are many valid reasons to have counselling. Emotional difficulties can be hard to cope with, and you may benefit from help. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties such as coping with a serious illness or struggling with relationship troubles, job loss, the death of a loved one, stress, substance abuse, or other issues…These are all sound reasons to seek help.
